Who am I?
Welcome to Colorful Asylum! I’m Tommy, and this is the place I like to share about my life. I have cerebral palsy, mental illness, and cats.
I enjoy advocating for those who are less fortunate than myself. While I do have cerebral palsy, I am lucky enough not to use a walker, cane or assistance to walk. I am also blessed with the ability to live on my own, drive on my own and have control over my life!
It seems like forever but I have spent about the last decade going to school for various different reasons, now I have three Associate Degrees and one Bachelor’s Degree. I am currently in graduate school and will be blogging more about that as the time wanes on. I can tell you that my major goal in life is to uplift those with disabilities and convince them that their life is no less than someone who is able-bodied or able-minded.
In 2013 I bet a fellow co-worker that I would eat vegetarian for longer than him while I was in an AmeriCorps program. Five years later I have been a vegetarian for the most part minus a couple of times I like to eat a juicy cheeseburger.
How I do it?
I like to share what comes to my mind, which is usually what I do with the website. I know that there are a lot of folks who are asking me how I do it and it is simple, I let it flow naturally. If I get in the mood to record a video rant about the stigma surrounding mental illness, I will. I tend to lean towards the left on most issues. I do not candy coat it when it comes to some key issues, which you will have to read about on this blog!
Key Facts about myself; A Vegetarian, Eats Vegan Foods, Owns Two Ginger Cats, Hates Ice Cream, Registered Democrat Since Age 18, Caucused For Bernie Sanders and Obama, Presented Scientific Posters, Nerdy, Smart, Geocacher, Rodent Lover, Thumb Sucker, Snowflake, Atheist, Pro-Choice, Fallout Fan, and Domestic Violence Survivor!
